Baltic and Amsterdam Voyage with 3 days in St. Petersburg

I’ve had the great pleasure to host tours for Departures Travel and Niche Women’s Tours for many years now. This is one of the first, that I’m hosting, that isn’t for women only. Book now for this fabulous trip and consider spending some extra pre or post trip time exploring this wonderful part of the world.

We begin our cruise in Stockholm, Sweden, home to impressive palaces straight from the pages of childhood fairy tales. We’ll cross the Baltic Sea to Tallinn, Estonia before sailing to historic St. Petersburg. Extravagant palaces, shimmering golden domes, lavish churches—we’ll need every minute of our three-day stay in St. Petersburg to take in the architecture alone. Next up, the charming city of Helsinki, followed by a rejuvenating day at sea before our arrival in Berlin. We sail on to Copenhagen, a city of spires, and Fredericia, a fortress town flanked by emerald green fjords. A gentle cruise through the Kiel Canal takes us to our final destination, the Venice of the North—Amsterdam. Meals and gratuities are included onboard!

Iceland Tour

Thanks to Cathy Scott of Niche Women’s Tours/Departures Travel for the opportunity to host a fabulous trip this past May to Iceland.

The natural beauty of this incredible country is staggering. In fact, Iceland is one of the most picture-perfect places I have ever visited.

Here are a few of the many images I took with my phone to give some idea of the variety of sights to be seen. I’ll be posting more soon once I have the opportunity to edit the 1000+ images I shot with my Nikon DSLR.

I look forward to hosting my next trip with Niche in the spring of 2018 to Scotland and Ireland and in the fall to Africa.

Incredible India!

Thanks to Cathy Scott at Niche Woman’s Tours for the honour to host a fabulous travel adventure to India. This is a trip beyond compare! At every blink of the eye there was a National Geographic moment in front of us and the stimulation of the colour, sounds, people, food and scenery was incredible…it was like witnessing the most sumptuous movie frame-by-frame without wanting to miss a moment.
We rode elephants, camels, experienced a Bengal Tiger in the wild not more than 12 feet from us and saw a country that is filled with colour, intrigue, art, architecture, beautiful people, food and moments that will leave lasting memories.
Here are just a few of the thousands of images that I took with many more to come. Stay tuned.

Santa Fe Photo Tour

Having just returned from leading a photo tour to New Mexico with 12 wonderful women, one can’t help but crave the beautiful warm russets of the landscape and food. It’s like having fall twice with the added spice of red peppers. Being one of the major art centers in the world, Santa Fe is truly a feast for the eyes.
At 7,000 feet above sea level, I should have been better prepared for the cold, but it still surprised me how much warmer it is here at home. In fact, it snowed!
Watch for more photographs to come as there are lots to share and stories to tell. Thanks to Cathy at Niche Travel for arranging such a wonderful trip!!

Photo Tour Reunion

A good time was had by all at a recent get-together enjoyed by the lovely women who I had the pleasure to travel with to Croatia last October on a photo tour led by yours truly.

We enjoyed a wonderful visit at the beautiful Abkhazi Gardens, complete with super-star guest Tamara Taylor, the daughter of one of our group members, who was visiting from LA where she plays Dr. Camille Saroyan in the television series Bones.

Croatia Fall Photo Tour

If you ever want to see the best of Europe in one country, you will find it in Croatia. I had the great pleasure to lead a photography tour for the Women’s Travel Connection this past September/October.

When I was asked where I would like to lead a tour to, I immediately said Croatia as the memory of seeing it on television at the time of the 1991 conflict made it seem so surreal that a war could be fought in what looked like an absolute paradise. I can now attest, the natural beauty of the region is breathtaking.

We landed in Zagreb and with our own deluxe bus and guide we made our way throughout the country visiting coastal cities and islands all with hundreds of years of history, beauty and lushness.

Given the country has some of the best soil and purest water in Europe, everything tasted fantastic. Organic is a way of life there as things grow so plentiful. Figs, olives, tangerines, lemons, oranges, grapes, almonds…they have it all!

The people were warm and English was spoken most everywhere. I would have to say of all the places I’ve visited in the world, Croatia ranks as one of my all-time favourites.
